Since 2000 and until now we are actively engaged as a Legal Consultant of EBRD and other international financial institutions regarding the financing and finalizing of the first two large Energy Projects with foreign participation in the Bulgarian Energy Sector – the project for constructing of new thermo-electric power station Maritsa Iztok I by the American Company AES and the project for rehabilitation of the existing thermo-electric power station Maritsa Iztok III by the American Company Entergy.

As Consultant we cooperated and continue to cooperate actively with leading Western European and American Legal Firms, specialized in the field of energy. Our consulting activities include detailed explanations of the legal regime/legislation in Bulgaria concerning the functioning of the companies in the Energy Sector in Bulgaria – licensing and authorization, pricing, labor relations, regulatory mechanisms, powers and functions of the State governing bodies, development and legal prerequisites for the restructuring of the Energy Sector and of the Energy Market in Bulgaria, according to the proposed contractual scheme for implementation of the projects with the existing legislation and jurisprudence, consultations and advice on the general legal frame, applicable to the Companies in Bulgaria, and the outlining of legal mechanisms to guarantee and secure the returns of the foreign investments on the projects.

Our active engagement in energy projects allow us to be informed in detail about the current alterations of the legal frame governing the energy, and about the tendencies in the development of the Bulgarian Energy Sector and the perspectives for constructing new energy capacities for the future.
